What We Collect

Village collects the following information to provide our family management services:

• Account information: email address, display name, and family name when you register.
• Family data: chores, meal plans, recipes, shopping lists, rewards, calendar events, and schoolwork that you and your family members create within the app.
• Usage data: we do not track your behavior, serve ads, or use analytics SDKs.

How We Use It

Your data is used solely to provide the Village service — syncing chores across family members, building meal plans, managing shopping lists, and similar features. We do not sell, share, or monetize your data.

Third-Party Services

Village uses TheMealDB (a free, public recipe database) to provide recipe ideas. No personal data is sent to TheMealDB — only recipe search queries are forwarded.

Payment processing (subscriptions) is handled by Stripe. Stripe receives your payment information directly; Village never sees or stores your credit card details.

Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated family data is permanently removed within 30 days.

Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Authentication uses industry-standard JWT tokens. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt.

Children's Privacy

Village is designed for families. Children's accounts are created and managed by a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent.
